FAQ about Miami Ballroom:

We meet every Thursday from 6-8p. We teach a Ballroom dance (Tango, Slow Waltz, Foxtrot) and a Latin dance (Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba) each hour. Lessons take place during the academic year, which is mid-January through April and mid-August through November. For specific dates, check the Calendar and/or go to our Lessons page for more info.
Lessons normally take place in the East Ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Student Activities Center. This, however, can change so check your email, our Facebook page, or this website for updates!
There are several parking options near the Whitten University Center for visitors. Visit the Directions page for more information.
$25 for students per semester (12 weeks, 6 different dances)
$50 for UM Alumni per semester
$75 for non-students per semester
$100 for non-student couples per semester ($50 per person)
REMEMBER: Your first lesson is FREE
Absolutely not! Always remember - No Partner? No Experience? No Problem!
Of course! Just remember if they are not students (anywhere, not just UM), they have to pay the non-student fee.
The lessons are taught by our experienced Mad Hot Miami Dancesport Team members.
Anything you feel comfortable and can move freely in. However, please remember to wear only closed-toe shoes (flip flops can be very dangerous and are hard to dance in)! We recommend comfortable, leather-soled shoes (rubber soles will stick to the floor). For women, comfortable heels or flats are acceptable. If you already own a pair of ballroom dance shoes, fantastic! For examples of ballroom and latin shoes click HERE.
Then you should try out for our performance team!
You must be a full-time UM student and dues-paying member of Miami Ballroom in order to compete with us. We hold tryouts at the beginning of every semester and are always on the lookout for experienced and dedicated dancers.
